The Future is Frozen

We are Canada’s leading frozen food retailer

Canadians have always had a passion for food. Whether you’re sitting down with family after a busy day at work or celebrating with friends on the weekend, food is what brings us together.

We’ve been a part of those moments for over 40 years. From the first store that opened in 1980, M&M Food Market products are now sold in over 1650 locations. We’ve changed our name, expanded our product line, and redesigned our stores, but our commitment to providing high-quality, great tasting food has never waivered.

Today, we’re looking for Franchise Partners who are passionate about the M&M Food Market brand and are ready to grow their business alongside us. With a national footprint, new and re-franchised stores are available across the country. If this sounds like the opportunity for you, download the Franchise Information Kit and take the first step toward owning an M&M Food Market franchise.

More Than 40 Years Serving Canadians

The very first M&M Meat Shop opened in Kitchener, Ontario in 1980 with the goal of selling quality meat at affordable prices. Soon after, the first franchise opened in Cambridge, Ontario, and before long we were opening new stores across Canada.

More than 40 years later, we’re still helping Canadians put delicious meals on the table with restaurant quality products, great customer service, and a convenient shopping experience. We are not only Canada’s leading frozen food retailer with over 1500 locations selling M&M Food Market products, but also the only national food retailer with absolutely no artificial colours, flavours, or sweeteners in any of our more than 450 products.

Real food for real life. That’s what makes M&M Food Market a real opportunity.

A Member of Our Local Communities

We’re proud to be an active member of the communities we operate in. Our Franchise Partners get to know their customers and are involved with the local charities, non-profit organizations, and community groups most important to them.

“I get a lot of comments from customers about the incredible look and taste of these products—they are unlike anything our customers have seen before.”

Committed to Sustainability

M&M Food Market is working hard to reduce the environmental impact of our stores and to support sustainable initiatives. We are upgrading to new, energy-efficient freezers and LED lighting, encouraging reusable bag use, and printing flyers and marketing materials using environmentally friendly paper and ink.

In addition, we’ve made a commitment to sourcing from sustainable suppliers. More than 90 percent of seafood sourced by M&M Food Market meets our Sustainable Seafood Policy, and we continue to engage suppliers who have not yet attained our targets to help them improve.

Jill McAninch-King

– M Food Market Franchise Partner, Nepean-Barrhaven, ON

Jill grew up with M&M Food Market as a part of her childhood, and it remained a staple at dinner as she started working in a corporate career and feeding a family of her own. She loved the quality of the food and how the products have evolved and changed alongside her tastes.

Before taking over the Nepean location, Jill worked in accounting and finance for over 25 years. But in the back of her mind, she knew she wanted to do something different and more fulfilling.

Since becoming a Franchise Partner, Jill has renovated the store, built new relationships with customers, and established her business within the local community.

“I love working with people, and I didn’t really get that experience before. I’m not stressed. I’m not working all hours of the night. It’s been fabulous and I never look back – not for a second!”

Martine Major and Bert LeGuerrier

– M&M Food Market Franchise Partners – Gatineau (Aylmer), Quebec

Maxime and Bert first joined the M&M Food Market brand in 1993, growing and evolving along with their community. Today, customers they got to know as children come into the store with families of their own.

They’ve seen a positive impact on sales after renovating to the new store design, while the enhanced products and variety of gluten free and vegan options have led to opportunities to reach a new type of clientele.

Maxime and Bert also credit the support of Head Office and their local Area Manager in helping them navigate the pandemic and ensure a safe and comfortable experience for both customers and employees.

“We have so many beautiful memories when we think back! The meetings, trips, and conventions are some of our favourites, especially the trip to Cancun. We know M&M Food Market is going in the right direction, and we’re proud to be a part of it.”

Andrew Nandee & Drew Bishop

– M&M Food Market Franchise Partners, Calgary, AB

Drew would often visit his local M&M Food Market while in school. A recent immigrant to Canada from the Caribbean, he loved the versatility of the food and how he could incorporate it into his own recipes. One day, a quick trip to the store turned into a long conversation about potentially owning a franchise.

At the same time, Andrew was looking for an opportunity of his own. When Drew told him about M&M Food Market, it immediately stood out as a well run and supportive business.

Together, they took over Drew’s local Calgary M&M Food Market store in 2018 and acquired a second location in 2019. They’ve built on the success of the previous owners by growing the stores, creating and offering new experiences while nurturing close relationships with their customers.

“We’re all in this together. You join a network of like-minded people who share their stories and help you succeed. You can pick up the phone and talk to Head Office, your Area Manager, or other Franchise Partners and they’re always there to guide you. It’s really nice to be a part of!”

Deanna Fronzi

– M&M Food Market Franchise Partner, Sault Ste. Marie, ON

Deanna has been in and around M&M Food Market stores her whole life. Though she originally pursued a career in teaching, she worked in the store with her parents after graduating and found that she really enjoyed the people and the business. She knew then that she wanted to get involved.

From there, it was only a matter of time before she took over. Today, she owns multiple stores and she still helps her parents with their remaining location.

Deanna credits her success to the skills of her team, the support she’s received from Head Office, and the personal approach to customers that’s part of the M&M Food Market experience.

“With hard work, confidence, and determination, you can achieve anything. I love what I do, and I get to come home and say, ‘I had a great day at work’. I’ve never felt better in my life.”

Comprehensive Training & Support

All Franchise Partners go through comprehensive in-class and on-site training with experts from all areas of the business. Ongoing virtual training, support from Head Office, and regular communication with Area Managers ensures you always have someone to turn to for assistance.
